Regular appointments are usually scheduled within a few days of the request. Back to the top Do you work during the evening time? Yes. View out work hours page for more information. Other times may be scheduled upon special request. Back to the top How long is the usual appointment time? The usual appointment time depends on the patient's condition and is usually around 1 hour. Back to the top What do I need in order to make an appointment? You may make an appointment by calling our office at (847) 568 - 0849. Please provide your name and a phone number at which you can be reached when making the appointment. Due to the recent changes in Illinois State law, we no longer need a Physician's referral in order to provide acupuncture services. If you belive that your insturance company covers Acupuncture, you can verify it with the company and then bring your insurance information to your first appointment. Make sure that the company covers treatments done by a Licensed Acupuncturist. Back to the top How often do I have to come for treatment? If the illness is acute, it is highly recommended to attend treatments daily or every other day. If an acute illness is not treated soon, it may grow into a chronic one. For chronic illnesses, it is recommended to attend sessions regularly once or twice a week. Usually intervals are discussed individually between the patient and the acupuncturist. Back to the top Can you treat more that one person at a time? Yes. We have multiple treatment rooms and two practitioners, allowing us to treat up to three people at a time. Our patients are always under constant attention and care. Back to the top Will I feel an improvement after the first treatment? Depending on your condition, the effect of the first visit may be different. Usually, after the first treatment, patients feel a significant progress but not yet a full recovery. In some cases, all symptoms are eliminated after the first session. Sometimes, however, it may take longer to notice an improvement. Back to the top Do you do diagnosis prior to each treatment? We perform a detailed Oriental Diagnosis during the initial visit and observe changes in the patient's condition during each treatment. Every 5-6 treatments we perform a brief examination to accurately change treatment strategy in accordance with the patients changing condition. Back to the top Do you treat chronic and acute illnesses? Yes. We treat both chronic and acute illnesses. Chronic illnesses demand more time to cure than acute illnesses. Back to the top Do you use disposable needles? Yes. We use ONLY high quality sterile disposable needles. Back to the top Does acupuncture hurt? Some people are afraid of acupuncture because they think that needles are like medical shots. The needles used by acupuncturists, however, are much thinner than those used in shots and therefore do not hurt as much. Sometimes a patient does not feel the needle at all, other times, one may feel a specific sensation, or one may feel a sensation similar to a mosquito bite. Back to the top Do I always get a massage together with the acupuncture treatment? Usually, if massage is not counter-indicated, we try to combine massage and acupuncture since together they are a good and effective combination. Back to the top Do you use Chinese Herbs in combination with acupuncture? Yes. In out opinion, Chinese Herbs are a wonderful addition to acupuncture and provide a continued healing effect in between, and after the acupuncture treatments. We use the highest quality Chinese Herb Formulas manufactured under strict conditions in the U.S.A. Back to the top Does my insurance cover acupuncture treatments?
